About Us
MJM Productions
MJM Productions was founded by Mickey Jones.
Mickey graduated in Film and Television from Brigham Young University,
where he produced several award-winning student film projects, and
worked at BYU's television and recording studios. The past several
years, he has worked as an independent event videographer and audio
technician filming weddings, theatre productions, and recording demo
cds for local bands. All aspects of production are closely supervised
by him. Our mission is to create a beautiful, quality video that you
will treasure for a lifetime.
Your wedding video
We will shoot more footage than will appear in your completed video.
One of the magical aspects of film and television is the ability to
compress time. Your video will be carefully and expertly edited to
include all important events. We know that in years to come, you will
not want to have to fast forward through hours of unedited footage
in order to watch those special moments. Every DVD will have menus
personalized with photos and video from your wedding, with links to
the major segments, and a scene selection menu to take you to subcategories,
such as "cutting the cake" and "throwing the bouquet.
Please follow the "Demos"
link for short clips from a few of our completed wedding videos.
Professional digital equipment
Your video will be filmed digitally with professional 3-CCD cameras
and edited digitally on our professional non-linear editing system.
This allows us to color correct, trim, add music, create special effects
, and edit clips all the way down to a single frame of video.
The completed video is then recorded or "burned"
digitally onto your completed DVD+R or DVD-R, maintaining the original,
beautiful picture. If you choose VHS, it will contain the same video
as the DVD without the menus.
Choose your own music
We will include the
music of your choice. We are happy to make suggestions, but this is
your production, and your favorite songs that have sentimental meaning
for you and your future spouse will make your completed video more
enjoyable.
Dress code
This is your special day, and we want to blend in with the crowd,
so as to not draw attention away from what is important.. you. Please
let us know how you would like us to dress. If no preference is voiced,
male videographers will wear dark dress pants, dress shirt & tie,
females will wear conservative, modest semi-formal wear.
Lighting is important
Our cameras are designed
to handle low light situations. However, as with all video cameras,
the better the lighting the higher the quality of the resulting video.
We bring on-camera lighting that can be used in certain situations
in order to maintain a perfect image. During formal ceremonies, we
use available light as to not detract from the ceremony.
Working with
photographers
At MJM Productions, we have had a great working relationship with
the photographers we have worked with so far. It is our goal to shoot
our video in a way that is courteous. and unobtrusive. In most cases,
photographers appreciate this and reciprocate. We will do everything
we can to maintain a great working relationship with your photographer.
Wireless microphones
We use high quality
wireless microphones that pick up the sound of the bride and groom,
the officiator, speakers and special musical numbers. The sound is
transmitted directly to one or both of our cameras, resulting in excellent
audio throughout the ceremony.
Special effects
We can customize your video in any way you wish.We can use black and
white, sepia, slow motion, many different transitions, etc., but our
style is to use special effects sparingly. We find that to create
a production which will stand the test of time, a traditional style
is superior. Special effects should not over-power the video.
Multiple camera angles
In order to make a great wedding video of your ceremony, it is essential
to have different shots and angles to choose from while editing. While
you're watching your favorite movie, notice how many different camera
angles and shots there are in a single scene. Your production may
not be a major motion picture, but we will treat it as if it is. We
know that a ceremony shot with one camera and without skillful editing
will not be satisfactory, and we do not offer that as an option. In
cases where we are not shooting a ceremony, such as an LDS wedding,
we can customize a package to meet your needs.
Length of completed
video
It depends on what events and options you choose, but our videos average
between 30 and 60 minutes.
Power needs
Our cameras, wireless
mics, lights, etc. are run on batteries. Regardless of how long we
are scheduled to shoot, we bring enough battery power to last all
day.
Best wishes
One of our popular options, is to include brief best wishes from a
few family members and close friends. If you chose this option, please
let us know in advance who you want included. We
will set up a nice, secluded place where their comments can be shot
without crowds to make them nervous.
Hourly charges
We don't want our clients to have to watch the clock, therefore, we
don't charge by the hour. We have allotted 8 hours of shoot time for
ceremony and reception, which begins with the arrival of the videographers
at the first site. Time can be divided among several locations and
does not have to be consecutive. Example: If your ceremony ends at
1pm, but your reception is not until that evening at 8pm, the time
between will not count towards that eight hours. Travel time between
ceremony and reception is not counted, unless travel between sites
is excessively long. Eight hours is ample for the vast majority of
weddings, but for those that exceed that time, an hourly charge of
$200 will be applied.
Travel
MJM Productions is located Northwest of Houston. Our prices include
travel to locations in and around the Houston metropolitan area. Locations
exceeding 40 miles from our home base, will accrue a mileage charge
of 25¢ per mile. At locations exceeding 250 miles, travel will
include a charge for air fare on a major airline and rental car. Every
effort will be made to find the lowest fares available.
